EU platform for action on diet, physical activity and health. The aim is that each Platform member commit each year to devoting an increasing level of resources and effort, beyond their baselines, for current or new actions designed to meet the objectives of the Platform. Participants have reported activities carried out since 2004. European-level umbrella organisations willing to act to tackle negative trends in diet and physical activity (by submitting and maintaining at least one active commitment) may apply to become members of the EU Platform for action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health. These cover a diverse range of initiatives, from many different stakeholders, and the database has been designed as a means of effectively collecting actions and presenting them in a way that allows members and external parties to view, analyse, sort and compare actions. The purpose of the Platform database is to collate those actions.

EU platform for diet, physical activity and health: Database. The Platform is composed of the following members. The member organisations monitor their own performance and their evaluation reports are examined by outside evaluators to follow the progress of the Platform. The idea is that, led by the Commission, the platform will provide an example of coordinated action on this problem by different parts of society that will encourage national, regional or local initiatives across Europe.
